AWARENESS: HEADS of HEIs: Heads of HEIs are now aware of the need for blended learningi. Institutional heads from FUTA, FUNAAB and FEDPOLEL have requested staff training in the use of blended learning for pedagogic purposes. For instance, the VC of FUTA has requested staff training for lecturers who will teach on the Open Distance Learning (ODL) programme and online facilitators in FUTA. ii. The institutional heads have a greater understanding of the need for blended learning for the 21st century student, and its place in the digital economy.
AWARENESS: STAFF AND STUDENTS:Project activities have raised a general awareness about blended learning among staff and students participants, and both showed great enthusiasm for its adoption as a learning mode, especially on the heels of Covid-19 that forced institutions to adopt various forms of online delivery of courses.
AWARENESS OF DLCTeacher- and student-participants, and in some institutions the wider community, are now more aware of the level of their digital literacy competency. Members of the team participated in training lecturers in some of the online platforms FUTA deployed for online course delivery.
ADOPTION OF BLENDED LEARNINGHeads of HEIs (FEDPOLEL, FUNAAB, FUTA) have indicated interest in adopting the BL mode for pedagogic purposes on an institution-wide basis. This is a major breakthrough that needs to built on.
GAPS IN DLC & DLTs COMPETENCESThe project revealed the gaps in the proficiency and competencies in digital literacy and digital learning technologies of many Nigerian academics and students. But a good number are showing interest in acquiring or upskilling in those areas of gaps.
